We are planning the following events, for which all costs are included in the conference fees:
Classical Concert (Wednesday, Sep 04, 7:00pm) at the Mozarteum Foundation – Wiener Saal – A venue for special moments
The Wiener Saal of the Mozarteum Foundation, one of Salzburg’s finest venues, is located in the Mozarteum building in the Schwarzstrasse 26. As mentioned at their webpage, “at the Mozarteum University, artistic encounters and challenges are combined with art education and art university research. Highly talented students from all over the world, together with renowned teachers at the Salzburg and Innsbruck campuses, dedicate themselves to developing and opening up the arts and training outstanding talent.”
The Austrian Chamber Soloists who are made up of the leading string soloists of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz together with prominent chamber musicians cover a rich portfolio of classical music. The ensemble was founded by Lui Chan, 1st Concert Master (Co-Leader) of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz and has already had great success in the most important centres of Europe, Asia, South America and the USA. They are one of Austria’s leading chamber music ensembles.
Trip to the Untersberg (Thursday, Sep 05, 1:30pm - 5:30pm)
The Untersberg is the northernmost massif of the Berchtesgaden Alps, a prominent spur straddling the border between Berchtesgaden, Germany and Salzburg, Austria. The mountain is a landmark popular with tourists, due to its proximity to the City of Salzburg—less than 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) south of the city centre. Like most people, we use the Untersberg cable car. This lifts passengers from the lower terminus in Sankt Leonhard (456 m) to the mountain station at Geiereck (1,776 m) in eight and a half minutes, covering a horizontal distance of almost 2.5 km with a maximum height of 286 m above the ground.
The Geiereck (1,806 metres above sea level) and the Salzburger Hochthron (1,853 metres above sea level) can be reached in 15 to 30 minutes from the mountain station.
There are several places to stop for refreshments on the Untersberg, where you can enjoy local dishes as well as coffee and cake. The Zeppenzauer Hütte is a particularly spectacular location, from where you have a breathtaking view of Salzburg. It is a 15-25 minute walk from the mountain station to the hut (both can be seen in the photo). We will reserve some seats there.
Sturdy footwear is recommended, but hiking boots are not necessary. Please also note that it is about 10 degrees cooler on the Untersberg than in Salzburg, it can be windy and the weather can change quickly. Please bring appropriate clothing.
The private bus transfer and tickets for the cable car are included in the conference fees. In case of bad weather, the trip to the Untersberg will be cancelled and we will register another group for the sightseeing tour.
Sightseeing Tour (Thursday, Sep 05, 2:00pm - 4:00pm)
As an alternative to the trip to the Untersberg, we offer a guided sightseeing tour through Salzburg. On this walk of the Old Town we show you the Cathedral and St. Peter’s Abbey, the Residence and the Fortress, Mozart’s Birthplace, the Festival-Theatres, the oldest pharmacy and the oldest café, Salzach river, the mountains in town and many other sights.
The costs are included in the conference fees. When registering for the conference, please tell us whether you are interested in the trip to the Untersberg or the sightseeing tour.
Conference Dinner (Thursday, Sep 05, 7:00pm - 10:00pm)
The conference dinner takes place in the M32 restaurant, from where you have a marvellous view of Salzburg’s old town. The restaurant is located on the Mönchsberg. We will meet at around 6:30pm to walk there together. Alternatively, you can take a lift to the restaurant. The costs for the dinner are included in the conference fees.
More detailed information in coordination with the afternoon programme will follow.
